In Germany, the term Ärztlicher Leiter Rettungsdienst is in use. The tasks of this person is to oversee EMS personnel in his area, typically a bigger city or county.
Per definition, he or she is an Emergency physician who exercises control over all medical apsects in EMS on a regional or supraregional level.He is responsible for the effectiveness and efficiency in prehospital emergency care of patients.[1]
