COURSE DESCRIPTION 'Bold textThis course is a brief history of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. The missiological burden that propelled Adventism into every corner of the earth is discussed. Topic covered includes the Millerite roots, doctrinal and organizational development, expansion and years of crisis, worldwide growth, present challenges and possibilities facing Adventism. This is a general requirement course that upholds the philosophy/rational and goals of general education prescribed in the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton curriculum. The course is designed for all the students except for the Theology and Religion majors who take RELH 226-History of SDA Church instead. EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES 1. Know the history of the Seventh-day Adventist, its origin, growth and development 2. Know the beliefs and the practices of the Seventh-day Adventists 3. Comprehend the different epochs in the history of the Seventh-day Adventists factors that led to the major periods and the consequences. 4. Appreciate the missiological burden that propelled Adventism into every corner of the earth 5. To learn from mistakes and challenges that Adventist history presents 6. To gain the tradition of and values transmitted through Adventist History Course requirement and procedures Students of this class shall be those taking A General Education Requirement of the Undergraduate Curriculum. The course will be delivered through lecture method that respects integration of faith and learning, group discussions on historical issues and writing of summary reports. Student-teacher consultations will be encouraged to help students familiarize themselves with the basic facts of Adventist History.

Grading In harmony with the University philosophy of a balanced theory and practice, the 50–50 ratio between continuous assessment and the performance in the Final Examination will be used as basis for computing the final grade of the course. Learning activities will include the following:
