About this account

edit

I already have an account which is associated with my real life identity, which I use only to edit a narrow range of articles in my area of expertise. I created this new account because I may also wish to participate more generally, including editing project space and (where appropriate) articles outside of my specific expertise, but only if I can be pseudonymous for those purposes(*).

Therefore with regard to the rule about alternative accounts not editing project space, I would like this account to be designated my primary account, and the account which is associated with my real-life identity to be considered the alternative account, regardless of which of the two happens to be the more active. Provided that that designation is accepted, my use complies with the policy on alternative accounts. I assume that people have no reason to object to this, so I do not intend to artificially inflate activity on this account just to ensure that it is the more active of the two accounts.

(*) The main motivation for wanting to be pseudonymous is not that I am very bothered about other Wikipedians knowing my real life identity. It is the other way round: I don't want my real-world contacts to know that I have any wider interest in Wikipedia (beyond my immediate area of expertise), because they will probably think that it is extremely nerdy and a waste of my time - let's face it, it's not exactly sexy.
