The word Webmedia was first used by a programmer in the Philippines named John Louise in 1995 along with Ivan Pope, It was a collaborative organization aimed at developing websites , the same year when the version of windows 95 first came out. The first website to ever use webmedia was hosted through Free Servers. Webmedia.gq.nu which was bought by Sedoparking. It was the first website to use webmedia as it's URL by 1996. It remained solo in the search engines for almost 4-5 years until other companies decided to adopt webmedia and it's name. Webmedia came from the word web by a spider and "medyas" in the filipino word or pair of socks. It was a spider hiding in the socks which was immediately combined to the word webmedia contrary to what others think that it was from a combined word web and media.

What was the site all about? It was a Resource Gateway for scripts and early flash development. The site itself was created through visual basic and C++. It was also a home for the early developments of php and mysql.
