Waseem Marzouki (Born in Syria, in 1982) is a Syrian artist whose work has been exhibited in museums and galleries around the world.

Life and career edit

Waseem Marzouki Was born in Syria in 1982. Graduated from Damascus University, Faculty of Fine Arts, with a BA in fine art. he studied cinematography in Hollywood, California. Like many Syrian intellectuals and artists, he fled his war-torn country to Los Angeles, California in 2015.

He had his first international solo exhibition in 2008. His work has been exhibited extensively including at GAD- Venice biennale. Castelli Gallery, Los Angeles. Saatchi gallery, London. Meem Gallery, Dubai. Markhia Gallery, Qatar. Institute of Islamic Cultures, Paris. Waqif Art Center, Doha, and Goethe Institute in Damascus. His work is part of the permanent collection of a number of museums, foundations, and private collections.

Marzouki has worked extensively with film and has held screenings of his work at various galleries and film festivals including Tribeca Film Festival. Venice Biennale. Saatchi gallery. Qatar museum. Tehran Film & TV Festival, and Damascus the capital of culture. He currently lives and works in Hollywood, California.
