These are differences between Super Mario World and Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2.

Because the last is a remake of the first one, Nintendo put new characteristics in the game so the buyers could be interested in buying it. Super Mario Advance, which was a remake of Super Mario Bros. 2 (known as Super Mario USA in Japan), was very sucesfull specially because of all the new features it contained. That was the reason of why Nintendo made a remake of Super Mario World, a game of the SNES console, which was very sucesfull at its time.

Both Super Mario World and Super Mario World: Super Advance 2 were very sucesfull, and they are cathegorized as two of the best games of all times. Most of the critics were good for the last, except for the new voiceovers features (explained down).

Differences edit

Added things edit

  • A presentation, including Mario, Luigi, and Princess Toadstool arriving in Dinosaur Land is added. In this presentation, Luigi finds a feather that can let him fly, and Mario does the same. Both Mario and Luigi go to fly for a while, and when they return, the Princess is missing. This story was, however, explained in the manual of Super Mario World.
  • Luigi is more present in the game. In the original, as well in the Super Mario All Stars version, Luigi was just a second player. In this game, the player can choose between Mario and Luigi to play in the level selection screen.
  • A list with all the levels completed and exists found is now added. This list is seen when pressing the Select button in the level selection screen.
  • Voiceovers are added. This was very bad received, not only in this game, but in all the Mario Advance games. This was introduced in Super Mario Advance, and it remained until the last Advance game of Mario, Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3.
  • When the game is finished, an animation of Princess Toadstool with some Yoshis is seen.
  • New mushrooms, blocks, and tourist tips are added.

Changes edit

  • The screen of selection of files is different. The type of letter is smaller and in a totally different position than the original.

The original sprite of Luigi was exactly the same as the Mario one.
  • In the original game, the sprite for Luigi was exactly the same as the Mario one, except Luigi was green. But besides this, Luigi was exactly the same as Mario. In the Super Mario All Stars version of the game, Luigi had it unique sprite. He was slightly taller, and wasn't as fat as Mario. His movements were different, too. In this version of the game, Luigi's sprite are changed again. His "small" sprite is much taller than Mario, and his face is completely different. When he's big, he is also bigger than Mario, and the drawings are better than the All Stars version. Luigi, in this version, can jump higher than Mario. This Luigi is like the one in Super Mario Advance.
  • After red, blue, and yellow Yoshis are discovered in the Star Worlds, they appear randomly in normal words.
  • When selecting a new file, a black squeare with text explaining that the Princess was kidnaped appears. In the original, just Mario appeared here. In this new version, Mario appears with Luigi running side to side. Also, the text differs.
  • Some music differs, as the one heard in the final battle with Bowser.
  • The quality of the sprites is poorer than the ones of the original, but this is because the GBA low resolution.
  • The story told after beating a castle reffers always to both Mario and Luigi. In the original, the story only reffered to Mario.
  • The "season" is changed after total completition of the game, not after beating the Special Zone.
  • Luigi uses Yoshi differently. Instead of just swalloging some enemies, he spits them out.
  • More enemies than the original are changed after beating the game.
  • The game could be saved in any time, which made the game easier. In the original, the game could only be saved after beating a castle or a Ghost House.
  • In the original, when Fire Mario or Caped Mario is hit, he returns to small Mario. In this new version, he returns to Big Mario, which made the levels easier to complete.
