Barry Walton
Barry George Walton (born April 5, 1974) is an America TV and documentary director, producer, and editor. His professional credits and experience include producing for National Geographic Channel and Animal Planet. Show editor for the NHL's, NHL Live and the Detroit Piston's weekly show State of the Pistons. And director for the documentaries Profiling HURT and The High: Making the Toughest Race on Earth under his production company BTV Productions.
Life and Career
editHe was born Barry George Walton in Morenci, Michigan son of Judy Davis and George Walton. He graduated in 1993 from Morenci High School and attended North Central University until his graduation in 1998.
In 1999, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film and acting while living on a sailboat in the Marina Del Ray.
He worked on the sets of films, commercials, and music videos as a P.A. (production assistant) and then in 2001 began the position of digital video engineer. He worked with actors to include; Brooke Shields, Jennifer Lopez, and Will Smith and on films to include; The Fast and the Furious, Coyote Ugly, and House of 1000 Corpses.
In 2006, he moved up to San Francisco and started working as a associate producer at Hoff Productions on the National Geographic Channel's show Conquering Niagara.
In 2008/09, he field produced 50 episodes with Hoff Productions for the Animal Planet show called, Weird, True, and Freaky.
At the end of 2009 he moved to Rome Italy, and in 2010 started production with NextSun Productions on the documentary, The Violin Ghetto (it was never released due to funding complications). In 2010, he also began production on his second documentary, The High: Making the Toughest Race on Earth (set to be released in 2013).
In 2011, he completed the production as director of his first documentary, Profiling HURT which was an official selection of the Sedona Film Festival and award winner of the 2011 Honolulu Film Awards. He also worked as editing adviser and English subtitle translator at Cinecitta for Italian director Giulio Reale on the short film FOL (Full of Life) and was the 1st AD on the set of the film, Uncommonly Long Instance (released in 2012) with British actor Lindsey Kemp and Bulgarian director Elena Niagolova.
In 2012, he returned to New York and began working for the NHL's sports review show NHL Live until the 2012 NHL player strike. At the end of 2012 he started working as a Producer/Editor for the NBA's Detroit Pistons.
