Wikipedia Conflict of Interest (COI) Help Desk
Welcome to Wikipedia's WikiProject COI Help Desk (COIHD). This page is intended to help:
    1. employees or consultants seeking a Wikipedia volunteer to consider a suggested change
    2. Wikipedia volunteers reviewing and making decisions about such COI requests

On Wikipedia, a person is considered to have a conflict of interest (COI) on any page that relates to their external relationships. Any person with a COI is advised to be cautious, and to be exceptionally careful when deciding whether to directly edit entries where it may apply.

Financial relationships are considered to be the most serious serious form of COI, and persons in this position are required to disclose the fact if they choose to engage such entries.

If you are interested to learn more about these topics, please visit the conflict of interest guideline, and the Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. If you're ready, continue on!

    What this project is about

    edit

This project is intended to be most useful for those with a financial COI. It is intended as an alternative to "paid editing" by presenting a set of tools and processes to facilitate disclosure, the creation of new requests to articles, timely responses to these suggestions, and a system for keeping track of these changes.

It should be a starting point for Wikipedia's volunteer corps and for anyone representing an organization, brand or similar outside interest to collaborate on improving Wikipedia articles.

    • If you are public relations or marketing professional, employee working on assignment, or freelancer taking on a paid project, skip below to How can I get help?
    • If you are a Wikipedia volunteer interested in reviewing requests by COI contributors, or assisting in the review process, please click How can I help the process?

I'm completely new to Wikipedia, I don't really know how this works

OK, you will need to create a Wikipedia account and learn some basics. We'll take you to a different page before we come back here. Start here. Back? OK, let's go to the next section.

I know enough about Wikipedia to have a user account, but I'm not an expert

    edit

It's in your best interest to make sure your user page is in order, and that you know how to write an effective request. Start here.

I know my way around, mostly I need someone to review my requests

    edit

If you're all squared away on the above, you can use this interface to begin posting a request. If you really think you know what you're doing, feel free to post on the appropriate discussion page, and don't forget to take the {{request edit}} template with you when you go.
