Mobile Living Mobile Living was founded in 1968 by Daniel Jackson in Concord, CA providing awnings and air conditioners for motorhomes sold at an RV dealership accross the street (Rolling Homes). At the time these were not offered as an option on new RVs like they are today. By the 1980s these were being offered by Winnebago and other manufacturers, so the business had to adapt. Dan decided to add camper shells and other truck accessories due to the popularity of pickup trucks with the existing RV clientele. This was a success and grew the business to 9 locations by 1990. But misfortune struck with the changes at Brahma. A class action lawsuit put them out of business due to a manufacturing defect that caused them to come apart and seperate from the truck. With their bankruptcy, the individual dealerships were forced to pay the damages. Mobile Living was the largest dealer in North America. This huge expense forced the closure of all but one store in Pacheco, CA. This store remained open until 1999 when Dan Jackson retired, splitting the business in two and selling the halves to Scott Johnson (truck accessories) and Bob Morock (rv accessories). They both moved their individual portions of the business back to Concord. Mobile Living RV (www.rvstore.com) closed it's retail location in 2002 but continues to operate its web site. Mobile Living Truck Tops, Inc (www.teammobileliving.com) continues to operate to this day.
