The Kralovaks are an ethnocultural group of people in Western Bohemia. Their homeland "Královský Hvozd" (engl. Royal Forest) in German "Waldhwozd" or Královácko/Königreich is located next to the German border. The territory is divided into several departments (German: Gerichte/ cz: Rychta) which are mostly populated by German speaking Kralovaks. In several books and articles, the Kralovaks are classified as an ethnic group. Most of the Kralovaks are really proud of their cultural heritage which is caracterized by an difficult life in which the free farmers had to fight for their rights against the nobility. Furthermore the Kralovaks had their own traditional clothing. The men wore black wide hats with colourful bands that represented the different departments (Gerichte).
