The Open Secret: Why Ghana as a country we are unable to develop as expected.

As a country we are faced with a lot of developmental challenges that can be traced since the days of yore. Issues regarding mismanagement, corruption, parochial interest of leaders, and attitudinal challenges hinders our development.

How do we develop if all these are not overcome? Many are behind the institutionalization of corrupt practices in our system, all these culminating in the creation of the lasting “incidence of poverty” in Ghana.

If you closely study the basic structures of Ghana; the sociopolitical, Family, and Educational institution, they are basically the same when compared to the Western countries. But the performances of these institutions vary according to the political dynamic of each society. Hence the question is what is wrong with our system? Most Ghanaian will attend to the question without doubt that there is completely “SYSTEMIC FAILURE”.

It about time our leaders shift their mind set from ego-system awareness to Eco-system reality, which will enable them to come into terms with the pleas of the average person and create an inclusive political and economic institution to empower its citizens to reach their potentials.

In as much as leaders being responsible for the day-to-day administration of affairs, they cannot be solely blame for our predicament. We all as citizens of Ghana are responsible for the woes of our environment. For a nation to develop, it must be characterize with change and progress. Many today in Ghana yearns for progress!! But, many are not ready for change in the status quo.

As a student of the University of Cape Coast who is about to graduate, the school has taught me a whole lot; I have come to terms with the open secrets that hinders our development as a nation, identifying societal problems and coming out with strategic measures to solve them is one of the knowledge I have acquired. I’m committed to practiced what I learnt, in my endeavors for the benefit of the larger society.

In line with the aforementioned, this has enabled me to form RealityGh. It is a non-partisan group that seeks to; Reduce Poverty level, curtail mismanagement and corruption, Reduce the rate at which citizens depend on Government, and Resolve leadership and followership attitudinal challenges.

I believe in the spirit of “collectivism”, it of this that the group comprises of a team of colleagues ready to go out and solve societal problems and serve as a vehicle to project our alma mater. Vozbeth K. Azumah Vozbeth020@gmail.com
