Jake first came to Tennessee prior to Coach Jeremy Pruitt's second season with the Vols. During year one, Tennessee started slow, dropping their first 2 games to the Georgia State Panthers and the BYU Cougars. But, despite the slow start, UT would go on later in the season to a 5-game winning streak, including a bowl game win in the Taxslayer Gator Bowl. This 5-game winning streak would later work into a nation-leading 7-game streak with wins over South Carolina and Missouri to start the 2020 football season, Dawson's second season with the Vols.
