Ovitoto bridge construction

edit

The Ovitoto village is about 42.5km from Okahandja. It is not that well known because its located at a discrete place. The gravel road that links Ovitoto (Okandjira) to Okahandja had three dangerous rivers that were known to have taken many lifes over the past years. The Ovitoto community has been asking for government aid for many years. The goverment finaly erected three bridges along the gravel DR1202 road from Okahandja to the Ovitoto settlement. Thanks to the presure group lead by Chief Vipuira Kapuuo.

The bridges were constructed over 3 rivers namely the Bobbejaan river, the Niehous river and the Swakopmund river, commonly known as "Ondondu jo varumendu".
