User:Vassyana/insanity/Neutral point of view x03

The neutral point of view (NPOV) represents fairly all significant views that have been published by reliable sources. Wikipedia does not pass judgment on the subjects of its articles, and allows readers to form their own opinions.

Achieving neutrality

edit

Fairness and balance

edit

Characterize disputes neutrally by presenting differing views without passing judgment. Give due weight to views in proportion to their prominence.

Using sources

edit

Attribute opinions and discuss the fact that they have one. "The Beatles were a great band" is an opinion. A study showing that most people in Liverpool believe that to be so is an attributable fact. Substantiate facts that are open to dispute, e.g., that The Beatles often made the UK Singles Chart is a substantiated fact.
