Henry William ELLIFFE (Harry), born 1927 and died 6 January 2020, was a New Zealander who graduated as a Civil Engineer at Auckland University and Seddon Technical College and then moved with his family to Australia in 1968. While his professional career spanned civil roadworks and construction projects in the private and public service, he is notable for his commitment to the restoration and conservation of the local environment at Curl Curl Lagoon and foreshore (Sydney, NSW) for over thirty years.

In 2001 he received an Outstanding Community Services Award from the Warringah Shire Council for his work restoring the Curl Curl Lagoon and South Curl Curl headland; in 2002 he was featured with his wife, Beverly, and fellow volunteer Ray Cox on the cover of the Telstra Sydney phone book feature on "our environment"; in 2013 he was awarded the Environmental Warrior Award[1] by Curl Curl Lagoon Friends (and made a lifetime member); in 2016 he was included in the "50 Faces" project[2] highlighting the contribution made by Northern Beaches locals to their community; and in 2018 he was the Australia Day Senior Citizen of the year for the Northern Beaches of Sydney[3].
