Brothas from Otha Mothas (UC Santa Barbara)

edit

Brothas from Otha Mothas (also known as BFOM) is the University of California, Santa Barbara's only all-male a capella ensemble. Founded in 2003, it has become a well known presence on the UCSB campus[1].

Brothas from Otha Mothas also supports local non-profit organizations.[2] along with academic programs,[3] to help the community.

History

edit

From the BFOM Website:

"In the summer of 2003, I was singing in Italy. I had been considering starting a new a cappella group at UCSB. I was inspired by another student there whose Michigan group, the Acafellas, had both an amazing sound and great feeling about them. When I heard D.J. Ozan say, "we just brothas from otha mothas," I knew I had to make a group around that name.

A set of auditions, a couple of rehearsals, and a concert later, UCSB's Brothas from Otha Mothas is now the newest musical force to be felt on the UCSB campus. We're excited to be singing, and we hope you have the chance to see us soon.
