A Natural Born Talent

Early Years

A graduate from Monash University, Australia, Wee Ping started his professional career as a producer and host for many local TV programs. He was also the first mandarin- speaking host chosen in the world for internationally renowned syndicated game show Deal Or No Deal in 2007. Prior to hosting Deal Or No Deal, he used to anchor Mandarin News for NTV7 and 8TV. Programs that was produced and hosted by Wee Ping include “8 Corners” , “The Tauke Club” and financial program “Money Rules”.

In October 2010, Wee Ping hosted the renowned China vs Thailand Muai Thai match - The Hero Legends. The match, which was held in Genting Highlands received record setting viewer ship as it was broadcasted LIVE through satellite back to China as well as the rest of the world through the internet with more than 10 million viewers tuning in.

Other Talents

Other than TV program production, Wee Ping had also set foot in other fields including radio production, music composition as well as designing fields. He is also an established trainer and a mandarin teacher to many famous TV personalities including Xandria Ooi, Vanessa & Pamela (Amazing Race Asia), Belinda Chee (8TV Quickie’s Host) as well as Sarah Lian (FHM’s Cover Girl of the Year 2008).

2010 sees Wee Ping moving on to a whole new realm of TV production – the TV drama production. After his cameo appearance in ntv7’s 2009 Timeless Season, he was chosen to play the lead role in 2010’s Age of Glory II as a scholar. With two major roles within a year and numerous cameo appearances, it was no surprise Wee Ping caught the attention of Singapore Media Corp (M) Studio and casted him for a significant role in ‘Destiny In Her Hands’, pairing with Media Corp’s A-List Jeanette Aw in year 2011, just one year into his acting career. He subsequently played his first ever villain role in ‘The Dark Sunset’ and surprised everyone with his flexibility. The role received rave reviews from the industry as well as audiences and fans alike. 2012 was another busy year for Wee Ping as he prepared for his MC jobs, corporate training (Guinness Anchor Berhad), lecturing in Colleges as well as acting. In 2012 he also starred in Media Corp’s Mining Magnet together with Frederick Lee and Debbie Goh.
