Some of the templates I created or made important changes to

edit

Template name Date Changes Diff
{{Freshmeat}} April 13, 2009 Created when all external links to Freshmeat broke following a complete site redesign.
{{SourceForge}} April 13, 2009 Standardized with other external links templates. [1]
{{Advogato}} April 13, 2009 Created to help standardize external links to Advogato.
{{Wikipedia books}}
{{Wikipedia books link}}
April 18, 2009 Created when I witnessed well meaning editors removing wikilinks (example) to Wikipedia:Books/ that RichardF had added to articles (prior to the implementation of the Books: namespace). See User talk:RichardF/Archive/Archive 13#Templates for Wikipedia-Books linking
{{R from other capitalisation}} Note 1 May 4-25, 2009 AN/I discussion, DRV, TfD
On May 11, 2009 I convinced Killiondude to open this AN/I discussion as I didn't want to draw the attention of a detractor. The irony is the TfD closer, Erik9, who had closed the TfD as delete and had begun to mass-remove the template [2] from redirect pages (self-reverting on 17 May 2009 [3] following the larger discussions), later turned out to be yet another sockpuppet account of indef blocked John254. See this AN/I discussion for more background.
{{Infobox OS}} May 20, 2009 Added support for |frequently_updated= parameter and standardized with {{Infobox software}}. [4]
{{Latest stable software release/Linux kernel}}
{{Latest preview software release/Linux kernel}}
May 20, 2009 Changes to address duplication of template updates as discussed at Talk:Linux kernel#Version number. [5] [6]
{{Latest stable software release/Linux}}
{{Latest preview software release/Linux}}
May 21, 2009 Extremely simple changes to address issues which had been raised at Talk:Linux/Archive 27#Version number, which had spurred a needless TfD and had been improperly speedy deleted. [7] [8] [9] [10]
{{LSR}}
{{LPR}}
May 26-28, 2009 No text output if |latest_release_version= parameter is empty or unset. [11] [12]
{{Infobox software}} May 30, 2009 Allow |latest_release_version= and |latest_preview_version= parameters to override subtemplate transclusion. [13]
{{Infobox web browser}} July 19, 2009 Created per the discussion at Template talk:Infobox software#Engine addition to this template for web browser software articles.
{{Cite IETF}} October-November 2009 Created to standardize and simplify the creation of inline citations of IETF documents. Originally based on Cite RFC which was a simple wrapper template for {{Cite web}}, but eventually rewritten from scratch to handle other document types and use {{Citation/core}} directly. See Talk:Request for Comments#IETF RFC handling in Wikipedia; best way to cite for additional background.
{{External link}} November 10, 2009 Created for external links standardization work (Category:External link templates), see Template talk:Official website#Meta-template.
{{Citation/core}} Note 2 November 3-8, 2009 Fixed logic bugs, allow the use of single quotes in parameters. [14]
{{Citation/core}} Note 2 December 10-11, 2009
December 31, 2009
Fixed more logic bugs, move quotes inside parameter used for link generation. [15]
{{DelRev XfD}}
(previously Delrevafd)
February 21, 2010 Added support for TfD, CfD, and other non-AfD discussions. (example) [16]
{{High traffic}} May 10-11, 2010 Added support for linking to stats.grok.se page traffic statistics. [17]
{{Being deleted}} December 27, 2010
December 30, 2010
Made display more compact and added support for templates undergoing deletion review. [18]
{{Delrev}} December 28, 2010
December 30, 2010
Added proper support for templates undergoing deletion review. [19]
{{Deleted template}} May 22, 2011
June 11, 2011
Corrected display for edit preview, show original template notice on template page, and only categorize pages which transclude a deleted template. [20]
Notes

1. ^ The display of redirect template messages and other text on redirect pages was finally fixed on January 6, 2014 and January 30, 2014 with the rollout of MediaWiki 1.23wmf10 (T16323, T44642). It only took about 10 years (T2927)...

2. ^ {{Citation/core}} is the meta-template used by the majority of the "Cite x" citation templates, which makes it one of the most widely transcluded templates on Wikipedia. Despite relying on it every day, the template is used at such a low level that most editors don't even know of its existence. It has around 1.4 million transclusions (as of October 2011 [21]), which puts it just behind {{Reflist}} and {{WPBannerMeta}} (and WPBannerMeta's many sub-templates) in terms of its transclusion count. Needless to say, this is one template which you really don't want to screw up while editing...
