Klaus J. Behrendt (born February 7. 1960 in Hamm) is a German actor. Since 1992 he has starred in the Westdeutscher Rundfunk version of the popular television crime series Tatort.

Life and education edit

Klaus J. Behrendt grew up in the Westfälian town of Ibbenbüren. Der gelernte Bergmechaniker nahm nach Ableistung seines Zivildienstes von 1981 bis 1984 Schauspielunterricht an der Hamburger Schule Hedi Höpfner . A trained mechanic, after completing his community service from 1981 to 1984, he took acting classes at the Hamburg School Hedi Höpfner. His television career started in 1989 with a role in the television series Red Earth II. From 1995 to 1997 he played in the Sat.1-series AS in the role of private detective Alexander Stein.

Behrendt gained wide popularity beginning in 1992 to 1994 and again since 1997 for his role as investigator Max Ballauf in the crime series Tatort of the Westdeutscher Rundfunk - first as an assistant to Commissioner Flemming in Dusseldorf and later with his colleague Commissioner Freddy Schenk (Dietmar Bär) in Cologne.
