The Inherited ia an American 2009 horror film written and directed by Patrick C. Clinton.[2][3]

Background edit

The screenplay for The Inherited served as a portion of Patrick C. Clinton's doctoral dissertation for his Ph.D. in English.[4] Dr. Clinton uses the film as well as other contemporary horror films to teach undergraduates how low-budget films infuse the horror genre with postmodern characteristics. He currently is an instructor of English at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Synopsis edit

A college student witnesses the death of his parents when he was a child. He deals with his loss by creating endearing relationships, surrounding himself with friends as a substitute family. His life is turned upside down when he is contacted by an attorney and learns that he is the heir to a fortune and that his preconceptions about his family and backgound are false. He and four friends visit his family the estate and learn his family was anything but normal. They begin to unravel the mysterious past, finding it filled with incest, deception, and murder.
