Hi, my name is Tia Langley! I am 19 years old and currently attending EVCC. I enjoy to play softball on my free time. I have been playing since I was 7 years old. Article Evaluation Something that really interests me is ghosts. Many people believe in them and many people do not. I honestly won't know if they are unless I experience it myself. It is hard to tell what is faked and what is real. I somewhat believe in ghosts.I visited the ghost article on wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: it's irrelevant sections, not up to date, and some viewpoints are under-represented.
Irrelevant Sections I have noticed that some of the sections that are added in the articles on wikipedia are sometimes irrelevant. There is no need for them to be included. For example, in this article dementia and alzheimer's are mentioned. When I think of ghosts these things don't usually come to mind. It doesn't make sense to me why these diseases were included in the article.
Not up to date Most of the information in the article is not recent. This is not very good. You won't know if the information is very reliable if it is from years and years ago. Life changes and we continue to inquire more and more information every day. In the article, the studies are from 2009. It says that 18% of Americans have seen a ghost. It is now 2021 so the percentage has most definitely changed.
Under-represented I think that some of the viewpoints were not talked about as much as they should've been. I think that they should have talked about ghost hunting and exorcisms more. These are some of the things that I originally wanted to learn more about and the article barely talked about them. Other viewpoints got more coverage than the ones that I find more related to ghosts. I believe that the article could have done a better job describing ghosts as well. I feel like the article is all over the place and kind of confusing to the readers.
Summary Overall, I think I could've found a much better article. Ghosts still are super interesting to me and I would love to learn more about them. Im very into scary and horror things. I hate it but I also love it. I would rate this page as "alright". I feel like this article didn't give me the information that I was looking for. There are a few problems I have with the article. To improve it can make all the sections relevant, make it up to date, and talk more about the interesting viewpoints.
