I’ve always wanted a place where I could go and chill, hangout, be as loud as I want, laugh or even cry and know one would judge me for that. A place where I know I could find a lover, a soul mate, or a friend to go through this life with at least. And over the years of my life, I’ve found that place, and that place is called… MUSIC.

MUSIC is that place I’ve dreamed about since… humm… I don’t know… forever. Sometimes I would set and daydream at school, work, church, anywhere, about how the air smelled, or how the streets looks, and most of all, who lived there. In my head, I know who lives there. Donny Hathaway stayed across the street from Stevie Wonder, and Aretha Franklin stays in the house two doors down from Phoebe Snow, who uses the same gardener as Luther Vandross and Rachel Farrell. Patsy Cline host a bake sell every Wednesday twice a month with Whitney Houston, for the kids that attend the School of MUSIC. Boyz II Men throws a BBQ at the park up the street with Take 6, the Jackson 5, and the Temptations. Brian McKnight comes with Babyface who always brings the bar-B-que bake beans that Glades Knight made, but everyone assumed my mom or Patty LaBelle made them. Of course India.Arie brings her blanket to lie under the tree that Prince craved his name in, right after Michel Jackson planted it. Oooh Prince!... Ha… Everyone knows that after the BBQ, the party is at Marvin Gaye’s house, who rents out his back house to D’Angelo until he comes back from where ever he went. Missy Elliot brings the Belvedere and Timbaland is bringing the chips cause last time, they all knew it was Maxell who was suppose to bring the chips, instead… he came with poker chips to play with Sam Cook and Cutis Mayfield who dances with Roberta Flak every time they see each other. Beyonce called one of the girls from EnVouge saying she on her way, but she had to stop at Deborah Cox apartment to change and wait for Mariah Carry to get there. Erykah Badu bartends until Jill Scott arrives with Angie Stone, and then Brandy takes over.

In saying all that, I’ve always wanted to go and live at this place called MUSIC, and the road there has been a journey. I’m still not there yet, I feel as if I’m at the gas station filling up for the trip. I’ve always stay in touch with the people that live in MUSIC, just so they could tell me the way to get there. I’ll tell you this, none of them told me it was going be easy, but Donny told me that there’s a house opening next door to him that’s waiting for me when I get there.

So to my MUSIC family, I’m on my way there, lets plan that welcoming party… and to you, pack your bags, buckle your seat belt, cause where off on the road to this place called MUSIC
