Uncovered Heritage

edit

A 6 minute, silent, 16mm film connected to the 1952 Olinda Film Festival (which became the Melbourne International Film Festival). Paper reads: “Olinda Film Festival Tea Party”

The project has currently uncovered 1 piece of heritage, a film from the 1952 Olinda film Festival. The film is a short comedy set in the Hills around Emerald. The reel had “Olinda Film Festival – Tea Party” written on paper in its canister. it isn't certain who made the film, or who the people in it are, but it is speculated they are the festival organizers.

The Olinda Film Festival went on to become the Melbourne International Film Festival, making this film historically significant to MIFF as well as Olinda, the Hills and the period generally.
