How to find an alien this is a step by step process that takes much concentration and effort. Many may find this to be stupid. but it is true. Steps are listed below. 1. Well... in has content and thus context, and one can understand what it is about, so I would not go with an A1. I'd say it merits a G1 as an implausible theory, though a G3 as obvious misinformation could apply as well.
  • My comments: You correctly identified that A1 is incorrect. I think G1 is best, although be careful using G1 for "nonsense" as it doesn't really apply to "implausible theories" in general - just something that is literally incomprehensible (random words/characters) or something that is obviously a joke like this way. G3 would also be acceptable. --ThaddeusB (talk) 14:36, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Sure enough... no content. A name and a link. It was a good prod and I would not even question the good faith of the prodder. But you know my methods. I'd probably myself slap a HANGON and tag it as under construction, then spend a few minutes adding some content and sources per a g-news search which showed notability, and THEN deprod. Maybe even drop a note to the author.

  • My comments: A3 is a correct. As it happened the article had stood in this state for several months, so I just deleted it. In general though, I'd drop the article creator a note and give them some time to actually make good on the "coming soon" promise. Please note, however, that a hangon tag isn't needed - just remove the speedy tag. Only the article's creator is obligated to use a hangon tag. (Also, these aren't prods so make sure to use the correct language ["remove the tag" or "decline the speedy"] in actual RfA questions.) --ThaddeusB (talk) 14:41, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

'The Nightgowns are a four-piece electronic indie rock band based out of Tacoma, Washington, comprised of the members Trevor Dickson (Guitar, Vocals), Cody Jones (Keyboard, Guitar, Bass), Kyle Brunette (Guitar, Bass, Keyboard), and B.J. (Drums). Voted "best band" in Tacoma in 2009[1] The Nightgowns music is a nice mix of mostly uplifting, if occasionally moody, electro-pop. The band's music is seemingly heavily influenced by '80s pop.[2] The band's first album experienced a large amount of airplay on college radio station KEXP in seattle.[3]

The Nightgowns formerly The Elephants (2005-2008) included member Jason Freet now of The Drug Purse.[4] After Freet they added members B.J. and Kyle Brunette who had also previously played drums in The Drug Purse. [5]

In 2009 The Nightgowns played alongside Frank Black's Grand Duchy.[6]

Deprod. A7 does not apply if there any credible claim of significance or importance... and voted "best band" in Tacoma in 2009" is a definite and credible claim of such. Would set a watch in case it got re-prodded, and is so would then open a discussion with the re-prodder over his reasoning. If re-prodder has issues, I'd then suggest AfD for community decision. No need to tussle.
  • My comments: You correctly identified that the article doesn't qualify for speedy deletion. In addition to the claim you pointed out, the article does have 2 independent sources. Actually notability is unclear, but importance is clearly asserted. One quick way to improve the article would be to unlink the band members and album titles. --ThaddeusB (talk) 14:49, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

The 2nd tier in the Bolivian Football pyramid consists of 9 regional leagues (one for each department), the number of participants varies depending on the department, It usually has between 8 and 12 teams. Both winner and runner-up of each league compete in the Copa Simón Bolívar, with the winner of such tournament gaining promotion to the 1st Division, and the runner-up playing a play-off match with the 11th placed team in the 1st Division. Until 1976 all 8 regional championships (Pando didn't have an organized tournament back then) were the top in the national football pyramid, with the winner of the Copa Simón Bolívar being crowned as national champion.

The oldest regional championship is the one played in La Paz, it started in 1914 and it was considered for many years as the top Bolivian league, even more when it turned into a semi-pro tournament in 1950 and started including teams from Oruro and Cochabamba.

Deprod. A1 inapplicable, as article has both content and context. Would tag it for sourcing.
  • My comments: You correctly identified that the article doesn't qualify for speedy deletion. In my opinion, the article should be deleted since 1) the prose is mostly unrelated to article title and 2) The league itself - Copa Simón Bolívar - doesn't have a page, so an individual season shouldn't need a page. However, that is a matter of editorial action/community discussion not administrator action. --ThaddeusB (talk) 14:53, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Deprod. Very first sentence is indicator of possible importance. I'd tag it for sources, the lede for expansion, and not oppose if prodder took it to AfD for discussion.
  • My comments: Clearly not an A7 candidate as there are several claims to importance here - numerous modeling credits, a couple TV credits, independent sources (masquerading as external links), etc. Also, a transwiki link to an article that has existed for a while is usually enough to avoid speedy deletion since that indicates some other Wikipedia thinks the subject is notable. --ThaddeusB (talk) 14:56, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

A7 might be inapplicable, as the article seems web related and makes a reference to "Best rapper".... a claim of importance. I would feel happier with either a G2 as the author seems to have stopped typing mid-sentence, suggesting a test page... or a G8 because it seems to rely on a non-existant page.
  • My comments: Putting the page title in [[]] was unintentional, so sorry to give you the wrong (G8) impression there. It's an A7 candidate as "best rapper" is part of the contest name & doesn't indicate importance. A Google search should quickly confirm the lack of importance. G2 would also acceptable, as it does resemble a test.

Deprod. Georgian is not nonsense, so G1 does not apply. I do not know what it does say... but its not a G1, unless a Georgian Wikipedian translates and says its nonsense. However, would suggest it either be translated or be transwikied to Georgian Wikipedia, as this one is English.

  • My comments: Your correctly identified that it doesn't meet the G1 speedy criteria. (Unless translated text also meets it, which is highly unlikely.) If the not English tag wasn't already there, the correct action would be to add it. The tag will hopefully attract someone who can actually raed it & act accordingly. --ThaddeusB (talk) 15:06, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

The "conact us at" is probably sufficient to warrant g11, but it is also true that sometimes people put their personal email simply to identify who wrote the article, so not knowing what the heck they are trying to say means G1 is better. --ThaddeusB (talk) 15:09, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

  • My comments: You are mostly correct. Merely stating someone is a writer isn't an indication of importance, but the list of works is sufficient to suggest importance ("published writer" might be enough though.) A GNews or GBooks search makes it pretty clear she is notable, so it wouldn't hurt to point to those searches when declining speedy (either in edit summary or article's talk page). --ThaddeusB (talk) 15:14, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
