Frank Singiser (July 16, 1908 - May 28, 1982) was an announcer and newscaster in the era of old-time radio and in the early years of television.

Early years

Born Frank K. Singiser Jr., his father was a Baptist minister and missionary, which led to his spending his childhood in Minnesota, Burma and Rhode Island. He was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Brown University in 1928.[1]

Radio

In the late 1920s, Singiser began working at WGY in Schenectady, New York.[2] By February 1929, he not only was an announcer at the station, but he also was the writer for that station's The Jones Family program.[1]

Other professional activities

Singiser was associate professor of radio production at Boston University and taught at Skidmore College.[3]

Singiser was a panelist for the third Kennedy-Nixon debate in 1960.[4]

Personal life

Singiser married Mary Alice Thomas in New York City on September 9, 1932.[5] They had a daughter, Susan, and a son, Stephen.[4]

Death

Singiser died May 28, 1982, in Sudbury, Vermont, at age 73. He was survived by his wife and two children.[6]
