At the age of 11 he started learning audio engineering concepts, and building a passion for music under the guidance of his Uncle, Pitso Sera (Sankomota).

Taks would then go on to college before losing his financial aid and having to drop out. After dropping out of college in 2009, Taks Beats returned to his city where he would meet upcoming rapper L-Tore. Shortly after meeting, they collaborated with each other frequently. It is at that point that Taks says was when he started taking music seriously. He first became notable after producing several tracks for Jiji F. He then would get what he considers his first placement, which would be "I miss you" by Jiji F. Although he used samples early in his career, Taks has stated that he is moving away from using samples in his music: "I don’t want to share my publishing. If you sample they might take 80%, leave you with 20%. They getting paid off a record they did +20 years ago. So I like to do a lot of my Beats from scratch because I want all my publishing." His songs contain a production tag of Mapule saying "I wanna hear that” with some containing a production tag of L-Tore saying “You rocking with Taks”. His younger brother is record producer Yung 38, who produced Unkle Krack’s “Friends and Enemies”, “All the time” to name a few. He has 4 children, 2boys and 2girls, Thene, Mpho, Moliehi and Realeboha.
