ATABEY ( also Atabeyra / Attabeira / Atabex ): The Mother Earth.
Goddess of the Tainos, the primary being of the pre-columbian people of the Antilles.
The major Taíno gods is Atabey as a female, and Yúcahu as a male. In Taino mythology, Atabey was the mother of Yúcahu, the chief god of the Tainos who, among other attributes, was the god of the water and plantation, such as the cassava and tobacco.
