Hello my name is Tyra, but many people just call me T. I was born and raised in Western Washington and I am currently going to school to study either Criminal Justice or a medical related field. My days are typically busy with school and playing basketball, but in my free time I enjoy hanging out with my family and friends, binge watching TV shows or documentaries on Netflix, traveling, and hiking. Some of my favorite places to hike are Lake Padden, Oyster Dome, and Fragrance Lake. Some of my dislikes include cold weather, rain, spiders, peanut butter, corn, milk, pineapple, math, loud eaters, Donald Trump, Country music, and people.

Article Critique

edit

I visited the Selena y Los Dinos page on Wikipedia, and found three aspects worth commenting on: its lack of sources and citations, two dead links and unreliable sources.

Lack of Sources

edit

There were only 7 sources used and referenced about Selena y Los Dinos and some citations were used over and over again for different facts. One citation was used over 15 times throughout the whole page. I think the page could use a little more variety with resources and not use the same source for information.

edit

There are two dead links on this page. The Kumbia All Starz was a dead link on the Selena y Los Dinos but I found the correct link to the former band. I tried finding the other link to the Chris Perez Band but couldn't find it, it may be because the band no longer exist where the Kumbia All Starz was where a band member left to create his own.

Unreliable Sources

edit

The source that was used the most was a Selena Quintanilla fan page called "Selena Forever". And the site has some good sources, but again not a variety of sources. The page itself doesn't look rather professional and I couldn't find much about the author, only that he is a poet and writer, but what does he have to do with Selena Quintanilla or any background information on what he would know about her former band.

Summary

edit

The page overall is "okay". I wouldn't say there is not a lot of information on this page, but I think there could be more. More reliable sources not from Selena fan pages and to use more sources instead from citing from the same thing 15 times. One of the dead links is a easy fix if someone were just to take the time to find the actual link. Also, I would like to add that I don't believe Selena ever left the band, I think when she passed away the band just no longer continued.
