Education: Qualified as Chartered Accountant, Deloitte & Touche, Cape Town (1992-95). Post-Graduate Diploma in Accounting, University of Cape Town, South Africa (1991). Accounting degree, University of Stellenbosch (1988-90). Deutsche Abitur, Matriculation, Deutsche Höhere Privat Schule, Windhoek (1980-87).
Career: Chairman and CEO of O&L Group of Companies since 2002. Managing Director of O&L Group of Companies (2001-2002). Fulfilled a number of roles for O&L, including managing the group’s approach to corporate governance and being the Chief Executive Officer of Model Pick ’n Pay (1998-2001). Senior Manager, Deloitte & Touche, Luxembourg (1994-98).

took over running the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) business empire following the death of his grandfather Werner List in April 2002. O&L owns a range of companies, including Hangana Seafoods, Windhoek Schlachterei, Namibia Dairies, and Namib Sun Hotels. O&L is also the majority shareholder in Namibia Breweries. Thieme joined O&L in 1998, after four years working as a chartered accountant in Luxembourg. Thieme played a major role in turning around the fortunes of Model Pick ’n Pay and Windhoek Schlachterei. He designed and implemented O&L’s empowerment deal with Epia Investments, through which dividends will be ploughed back into rural communities. He was also the architect of several joint ventures entered into by O&L, including the deal with Heineken and Diageo regarding Namibia Breweries. He is the Chairperson of the Development Bank of Namibia, which opened its doors in 2004.
