Confluence is IIMA's annual business school summit and the largest of its kind in Asia Pacific. It is an integral part of the IIMA way of life and pervades the collective consciousness of the campus. The summit occupies a much prided position in the calendars of the managerial intelligentsia worldwide and attracts students from premier business schools and prominent industry leaders alike.

Confluence is structured along sessions, which deal with topics of paramount importance to the world of business and involve a unique blend of lectures by prominent speakers, interactive discussions and competitive events. Over the years, Confluence has seen increasing levels of participation from schools worldwide. The 2006 edition had close to a 1000 students from 21 international B-Schools and 49 Indian B-Schools participating in addition to around 500 students from IIM Ahmedabad. Confluence 2006 also hosted a Young Manager Program (YMP) for young executives from various leading corporate houses in India.

Confluence 2006 had the theme “The India Phenomenon” with the four sessions, Managing Nations, New Horizons, Advantage India and Genesis. Apart from the focused sessions which contained case contests, keynote speeches and panel discussions, there were a multitude of events each more challenging and enriching than the other. The summit was graced by eminent personalities like Mr. Ajay Piramal, Mr. Douglas Baillie, Ms. Naina Lal Kidwai, Mr. Scott Bayman and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who spoke on ‘The India Phenomenon’ which examined the Indian growth story in relation to business, society and governance.

Confluence in its 2007 edition intends to go further and explore the dynamics of the business environment and examine the different facets of business that would be relevant towards India’s transformation from an emerging economy to a global leader. It will be centered on the theme "India's roadmap to leadership". The central idea would be discussed along the following four sessions:

• "Transcending Barriers : Challenges To Opportunities" • "Towards Equilibrium : Sustainability And Inclusive Growth" • "Future Now : Innovation And Entrepreneurship" • "Global Footprints : Acquire, Expand, Integrate"

Apart from the session specific competitions Confluence 2007 will include a variety of workshops and flagships events such as, MasterPlan: India's largest Business Plan Competition, MouseTrap: Online Strategy Simulation Game, LiveStock: Live Trading Game and BizQuizitive: Business Quiz.
