Jaclyn Schanes is a Detroit multimedia artist who is best known for her edgy exhibit/performance,Show Pony, which premiered July 31st 2010 at Re:View Contemporary in Detroit, Michigan and featured the artist dressed in 26 watercolor self portraits which were attached to a handcrafted harness which allowed for the gallery patrons to purchase and remove the paintings, slowly revealing the artist to be virtually naked underneath. Show Pony proved to be a success as all the paintings sold, rendering Schanes naked save for the minimal ornamental harness she wore. The 26 self portraits were stylistically in the style of Neo-expressionism and reflected the artist's various fears,joys and other emotions. All 26 of the self-portraits sold during the two hour exhibit.
