Librarian of the Year Award

edit

Since 1988, Library Journal, a trade publication for public, academic, and institutional libraries, has been awarding librarians whose achievements highlight the highest standards of the profession of library and information science.[1]

When awarding, “Librarian of the Year,” the editors at Library Journal select librarians whose accomplishments fit one or more of the following criteria: significant advocacy for freedom to access information and library services, the expansion of services into communities where there is a need, relationship-building with government or private industry to showcase the value of libraries, and the fostering of literacy, reading activities, and library usage.
