Baba Balwant Singh Ji was born in the village of Muksudaran, Dist Ludhiana (Tehsil Payal) on 13 Jan-1944. Baba Ji did not have eyesight from birth. At the age of 9 years, Baba ji was fully dedicated to Guru’s path.
Baba Ji stayed at village Bhorla, Tehsil Payal with Sant Baba Nand Singh Ji for 3 years. “Dera Baba Balwant Singh Ji” today popularly known as “Dera Tanda” among sadh sangat. was started by Baba Balwant Singh Ji in 1965. The main aim of dera is to spread the message of Sikhism and baptize Sikhs.
DERA EVENTS
• Dera Baba Balwant Singh Ji is a gathering place for like-minded people who believe in Sikh principles of one god, only his name is true and all human race is equal. Dera was started by Baba Balwant Singh Ji in 1965. Today, the dera is well established as a place dedicated to dispersing the message of Sikhism. Dera Baba Balwant Singh Ji is today popularly known as “Dera Tanda” among sadh sangat.
• Puranmassi is monthly gathering of like-minded people who believe in the Sikh principles of one god, only his name is true and all human race is equal. Baba Balwant Singh Ji started this event soon after inception of dera.
• Ekotri: Few years after the inception of dera Baba Ji started an annual event of 101 akahand paths. The starting date varies but the final bhog is always on the Puranmasi of October. Today the Ekotri has become an annul event for the whole city of Tanda with a parade on the final day with full display of Khalsa colors.
BABA GURDIAL SINGH JI
Baba Guridal Singh Ji: Baba Guridal Singh Ji is the chief sevadar or dera today. Baba ji took on this responsibility after Baba Balwant Singh ji met martyrdom during the black days in Punjab in 1994.
Baba Gurdial Singh Ji started coming to dera in 1969. At the very first meeting, Baba Gurdial Singh Ji was impressed with sermons of Baba Balwant Singh Ji. Before taking full responsibility at the dera, Baba Ji was working in the Gulf as security supervisor. Before going to Gulf, Baba Ji worked in the Airforce.
