edit

Outapi Special Technical and Vocational School is a vocational institution situated in Omusati region in Outapi Namibia. Outapi is a town located in northern Namibia and it’s near the board of Angola. Outapi currently is the capital city of Omusati region[1].

On 03 October 2012, minister of education Dr. Abraham Iyambo had officially opened the Outapi Special Technical and Vocational school. This has happened after the school has been in operation for almost five years. This school started with a relatively small number of students and staff since it opened its door in January 2008.over a period of almost five years the number of student and staff members has gradually increased to a higher extent. During the inauguration ceremony, minister of education highlighted very important points about vocational education such as:

  • “Namibia needs more vocational education graduate if the country is to become an industrialized nation by the year 2030”.
  • “Let Namibian succeed, because of the commitment of the learners”[2].

At the same event, minister also reminded grade 10 and 12 learners to pull off their socks and pay more attention to their educational related matter to enable them achieving higher outcomes at the end of the year. The minister did not leave without touching teachers; he reminded them to ensure that greater achievement of learners is depending on their excelling during delivering of learning process [3] .

At the same event, minister of education Dr. Abraham Iyambo emphases the importance of Vocational Education toward Namibia vision 2030. He highlighted that vision 2030 will only be achieved if more vocational education graduates are produced in Namibia that yield to an industrialized nation [4]. This can also remind us the speech of Hon Dr. David Namwandi deputy minister of education during his budget motivational speech 2012/2013 financial year when he highlighted the same statement that for Namibian economy to grow to higher expectation, government needs to invest a lots of money in vocational education and training. By doing that, government will guarantee that vision 2030 will be a memorable event rather than be a dream [5].
