Rodney 'Star' Thornley
editBorn in Pawtucket Rhode island to a Cross country Moving van truck drive. Father and Receptionist, mother, later teacher and owner and founder of Wiser Institute (Now called Camelot Society) [1]
Has an Older Brother that went to the University of California. Malcolm worked in business then opened the El Rio Bar in the Mission District of San Francisco until its sale in the late 90’s
Older sister, Sheila with 2 boys and 2 girls was a nurse in Napa California until retirement.
Younger Brother, Philip, WSU graduate current working for Local Washington Coffee company
The family relocated to Albany Ca in 1959, then to Seattle Washington in 1964 where Rodney is still in the same location, the University district 59 years.
Rodney graduated from Roosevelt HS in Seattle Washington in 1969. Has an AA degree from Seattle Central community College and a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Washington. (1974)
Rodney has been a teacher, coach, and Advisor for 49 years in the Lake Washington School district. He retired in June 2023. He now is a Substitute at his Ala Mater, Roosevelt, and assistant Boys basketball coach. [2]
Rodney is the Past President of the Lake Sammamish Water Ski Club [3] and current Historian. He is also president of the Lake Washington Ski Club and the Pacific Northwest water ski association. Rodney is also a USA Water Member in Slalom, rank 67 overall and #2 in Level [4]
Mr. Thornley is an active High School Basketball Official in his 50th year with the Pacific Northwest Basketball Officials Association [5] and is a Basketball article writer in the Washington State Coaches Association Magazine. [6]
