Instant restaurant

In the instant restaurant round, each episode focused on one team's day of shopping, cooking, hosting and serving opposing teams and judges a three-course dinner. (Entrée, Main and Dessert). All teams give their 'instant restaurant' a name and theme, and will need to decorate the room/space and table setting to match that theme. Teams may only start cooking three hours before the other teams arrive at their house. After the team served all three meals to the judges and their opposition, each team gave them a score out of ten for the overall performance (i.e. food, service, entertainment, etc.). Afterwards, each judge gave a score out of ten for each of the three dishes, totalling a highest possible score of 100 (40 from guest teams and 60 from judges)

  • Description — The first five teams are introduced to the competition in the first round of Instant restaurants. One team was represented a state or territory. After all five teams have cooked, an elimination was held at the end of the final restaurant. The lowest scoring team was eliminated.

People's Choice 1: Children Festival

  • Description — Top 8 has to cook for hundred thousand people who attend the Sydney's Children Festival. All the food has to be suitable and delicious for both kids and adults. Teams have 1 hour to cook and 90 minutes to serve. The team with the most votes from the public will be People's Choice and get immuned from the Top 7 Challenge. The two teams with the weakest dishes decides by Pete & Manu will be straight into the Sudden Death Cook-off.

People's Choice 2: Rodeo Challenge

  • Description — The teams were tasked to barbecue for 200 rodeo riders and their families. The rodeo riders will taste and vote for their favourite meals and team with the most votes wins Rider's Choice and is saved from the next two eliminations. The two weakest teams, chosen by Pete and Colin were sent to Sudden Death.

People's Choice 3: Jetstar In-Flight Challenge

  • Description — For this challenge teams prepared and cooked in-flight meals for Jetstar flight passengers. Each team prepared 40 portions of their meal to be served to on-board passengers for scoring out of 10. The team who receives the highest score, wins the Passenger's choice and will have their meal served on select Jetstar flights for three months. The judges once again sent the two weakest teams to Sudden Death.

Ultimate Instant Restaurant

  • Description — For the start of the finals round, the Top 5 teams head around the country once again in an Ultimate Instant Restaurant round. All teams have to cook two dishes of each course (entree, main and dessert) for their fellow finalists and judges for scoring. Guests have a choice of choosing one of the options per course while the judges Pete and Manu each taste one of the two options. The lowest scoring team is eliminated as the remaining four teams are ranked into the semifinals.

Grand Final
