"The Style Scout" is a street fashion blog based in London and created by fashion industry expert and his wife, designer Luisa Kos.
Robert is British but he was an expat in the USA for 24 years. There he worked for Barneys New York, as well as establishing Zyle, a design studio, specialising in accessories for major US luxury retailers such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus.
When Barneys moved uptown to its current location at 60th and Madison Avenue Robert felt the store was no longer the insider’s secret, and he decided to move. One thing led to another and in 1997 he was recruited by the British Government to promote British fashion in the US.
The Style Scout was born out of Robert and Luisa's interest in steet fashion, especially in London street fashion. London's street style seemed like an explosion of creativity to them and the desire to document such creative expression, Robert started photographing on the streets, inspired by similar blogs such as The Sartorialist in New York and The Facehunter in Paris:
"Having seen so many street style blogs around the world, I was surprised that London, being in my opinion the world's center of fashion creativity, had no street style blog. I thought I should start one, and the response has been overwhelming!" says Robert.
The Style Scout has developed a growing following arround the world and in April, 2007 The Style Scout was invited to exhibit their street fashion photography at the Create Berlin gallery in Germany. The Exhibition was called "Catwalk Takes to the Street."
Apart from shooting in London, The Style Scout has also covered Paris Fashion week, having photographed many fashion industry and publishing professionals such as Glenda Bailey, Carine Roitfeld, models and popstars such as Iekeline Stenge and Lily Allen.
Recently The Style Scout has also started posting interviews, a series they call Six Questions, featuring some of London's most creative trend-setters such as fashion designers Eley Kishimoto, pop artist[1] Stuart Semple, tailor and designer Timothy Everest, fashion designer Julia Clancey, Illustrator Kate Moross and many more.
