As of 1200 UTC February 30, the JMA reports Typhoon Sandbox to be located near 40.0°N 140.0°E, with maximum 10-minute sustained winds of 100 kt (185 km/h, 115 mph). The system has a minimum central pressure of 925 hPa, and is moving northwest at 10 kt (19 km/h, 12 mph).
As of 0600 UTC, the JTWC reports Typhoon 00W (Sandbox) to be located about 100 nm (185 km, 115 mi) southwest of Timbuktu. The system has maximum 1-minute sustained winds of 125 kt (230 km/h, 145 mph) and gusts to 150 kt (280 km/h, 175 mph). The maximum significant wave height is 30 ft (9.1 m).
