The Best Damn Tour is the name of the fifth concert tour by Avril Lavigne. The tour supported her third album The Best Damn Thing.

Background

Lavigne announced the tour at her official site on November 6, 2007. The tour was very different from her previous tour, Lavigne stated: "I've never played on a stage like this before [...] I just wanted the show to be more showy. I wanted to take it to the next level.".

About the show

Lavignes 2008 tour is a spectacle. The north american and most of the European leg of the tour, have three stages. One is up top, backed by a huge screen, stairs lead down to the second level which is the main stage and allows the audience to see avril, from where ever they are seated. A couple of miniature stairs lead down to the semi-cat walk level of the stage which enables avril to interact with fans in the front rows. The show stopping opener Girlfriend, starts with all screens in the house displaying the word AVRIL. The letters begin to move, (Av-Ril) to get the audience to chant her name. After this, a brief showcase of dancers flinging flags is set. Then from the very top level Ms.Lavigne herself appears at the top of the stage slowly coming up from the floor. The words HEY HEY YOU YOU dance across the screen behind her, in time with her lyrics. The show is non-stop and there is never a dull moment. Lavigne changes outfits four times during her 19 song set, and plays old favorites like "Complicated" "Im With You" and "My Happy Ending". For the Asian leg of the tour, Lavigne changed wardrobe and the stage to fit smaller venues. No fancy screens, or stage levels this time! The stage is one level, fairly sized and is backed by her skull/crossbonez in a heart logo.

Opening Act

Lavignes opening act for Europe is The Jonas Brothers. Durning the North American tour, boys like girls suplied the support.
