Sigi Schmid is a German-American soccer coach who manages Seattle Sounders FC in Major League Soccer (MLS). He played college soccer from 1972 to 1975 at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he was a starting midfielder in each of his four years. He coached at UCLA, between 1980 and 1999. During that period, he became one of the most successful collegiate coaches of all time with 16 consecutive playoff appearances from 1983 to 1998, winning the national championship in 1985, 1990, and 1997. Schmid also worked with US Soccer throughout the 1990s. Schmid has previously coached the Los Angeles Galaxy and the Columbus Crew and won an MLS Cup championship with each team. He became the head coach of Seattle Sounders FC in 2009. Despite never having played soccer at a professional level, he has the most coaching wins in MLS history, and was the recipient of the MLS Coach of the Year Award in 1999 and 2008. Definitely one point, maybe two. One point because it's been a year since the article was promoted. Maybe one point for date relevance since his club will be playing in the final for a fourth consecutive U.S. Open Cup championship on this day. Not sure if this should lose two points for coming so soon after Eduard Streltsov, but that was a player and this is a coach.

CenturyLink Field is a multi-purpose stadium in Seattle, Washington, United States. The stadium was designed for both American football and soccer. It serves as the home field for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL) and Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer (MLS). The venue also hosts concerts, trade shows, and consumer shows along with sporting events. Located within a mile (1.6 km) of Seattle's central business district, it is accessible by multiple freeways and forms of mass transit. It was built between 2000 and 2002 after voters approved funding for the construction in a statewide election. This vote created the Washington State Public Stadium Authority to oversee public ownership of the venue. CenturyLink Field is a modern facility with views of the skyline of Downtown Seattle and can seat 67,000 people. It has hosted two U.S. Open Cup championship matches in 2010 and 2011, setting a an attendance record for the tournament final each time. (more…)

Four points I think, maybe five. Two points because it's been over two years since the article was promoted. Two points because there are 20 versions of the article in various languages. There's a weak chance it could get one last point for date relevance because I'm nominating it to appear on the same day that one of it's tenants (Sounders FC) competes for a fourth straight title in the U.S. Open Cup final (though not at CenturyLink this time).
