I'm an associate professor of criminal justice and criminology at Georgia State University. My research focuses on predation and social control among drug dealers, the offenders’ perspective, and theorizing method. My new book is Grey Area: Regulating Amsterdam's Coffeeshops (UCL Press). My first is Code of the Suburb: Inside the World of Young Middle-Class Drug Dealers (University of Chicago Press), coauthored with Richard Wright. I am working on Criminology Open, and serve as editor of International Criminal Justice Review. I received a PhD in criminology and criminal justice from the University of Missouri – St. Louis, and bachelor's degrees in sociology and psychology from the University of Georgia.
