Accent might be a factor of effecting communication due to reduced intelligibility. However, research shows that Mandarin accent in English is hard to change. But the fluency of English is easier to improve.[1]

Research[who?] shows that most Mandarin Chinese speakers have difficulty on pronouncing the /l/ in syllable final position.[2]
