Biography

Anne-Laure Kiechel is the daughter of Dr Jean-René Kiechel, founding member of the NGO Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi). She grew up between the USA, Switzerland, Germany and France. Alumni of the French Lycée in Washington and of Louis le Grand, she graduated from HEC Paris and from the University of Sankt-Gallen (Switzerland). She also received a Master degree in Mathematics from the University of Paris Jussieu.

Since of the beginning of her professional career, Anne-Laure Kiechel has dedicated herself to financial advisory, specializing in capital markets advisory and delivering consultancy to public and private corporate firms.  

Career

Anne-Laure Kiechel started her career at Lehman Brothers in 1999 in New York. Initially with the « Debt Capital Markets (« DCM ») franchise at Lehman Brothers in London, she has led numerous financial operations for French and Northern European groups looking to raise debt or equity in the capital markets.

In 2007, she became a Senior Banker in Paris, advising French companies (essentially in the consumer goods and infrastructure sectors) on Merger and Acquisitions and financing operations.

Following a decade at Lehman Brothers, Anne-Laure Kiechel joined the Rothschild Group’s financial advisory team, advising companies in France and overseas on capital structuring, rating and financing issues. In this position, she created the Rothschild’s Rating Advisory franchise which advises today more than 100 companies worldwide.

She also participated in the creation and development of the Sovereign Advisory franchise of Rothschild and Co, advising Governments and other sovereign owned entities on public sector operations. This new Division, that she is leading, is currently advising over 20 clients worldwide, including G20 members, Central European countries and several African countries.

She has been appointed partner in 2013.

Anne-Laure Kiechel is listed in the ‘Choiseul 100 2015’, an annual study published by the Choiseul Institute, which identifies tomorrow’s under 40 economic leaders who are expected to play a key role in global economic development.

Anne-Laure Kiechel has demonstrated her commitment to arts, by supporting for years both the Salzburg Festival and the Paris Opera.

She also works on issues related to intergenerational inequalities, and co-founded the Youthonomics Index which identifies and classifies countries based on youth well-being.
