Anna Fiametta Anna Fiametta (born July 20,1972) is the stage personae of Leslie Ann Sanzi. She is a sideshow and burlesque performer, based in Nashville, TN, and is the partner of veteran performer Sideshow Bennie. Billed as ‘’’’’The Sadistic Sweetheart Of The Sideshow’’’’’ she is a fire eater, does escapes from a straightjacket and is a female Human Pincushion among many other acts.
The Beginning
editAnna met SideShow Bennie when he was a featured performer at the Full Moon Tattoo and Horror Convention in Nashville, TN. They became close friends and she mentioned that she would like to learn fire eating. Bennie agreed to teach her and lessons started shortly after. She readily took to fire eating and pursued the art with dedication.
She gave her first stage performance with Bennie at The Mercy Lounge in Nashille, TN on July 12, 2008. She and Bennie had worked out a routine in which she would be seated in the audience and Bennie would bring her onstage as a volunteer. The plan was to teach her fire eating on the spot. The audience was unaware that the whole act had been planned in advance and thought she was genuine. After a few hesitant attempts, she and Bennie went into an elaborately choreographed fire eating routine which caught the rest of the audience totally off guard. The crowd reaction and Anna’s natural ease and stage presence convinced Bennie to add her as a full time member of his act.
They have since toured the country and performed as SideShow Bennie & Anna Fiametta.
Burlesque
editAnna and Bennie performed with many burlesque troupes and Anna developed an interest in that art form as well. Rooted in classic burlesque, he routines take a darker, gothic tone. She has choreographed routines using music by such diverse artists as Dead Weather, Marilyn Manson and Nouvelle Vague (band).
Her first performance was in Auguest of 2009 in Charlotte, NC as part of ‘’’’’Big Mamma D’s House Of Burlesque.’’’’’ Since that first performance, she has also performed with Nashville. TN’s ‘’’’’Panty Raid’’’’’ and Knoxville, TN’s ‘’’’’White Lightnin’ Burlesque.’’’’’
Now and Beyond
editAnna continues to add acts and routines to her repertoire. She and Bennie tour regularly, working blubs, tattoo conventions and biker events as well as burlesque shows.
