Third Trimester

edit

In the third trimester of pregnancy, ultrasound scans monitor fetal growth, biophysical profile and position, check the amount of amniotic fluid, and assess the placenta via abdominal and transvaginal ultrasounds.[1][2] In addition, non-stress tests use a fetal monitor to measure the baby’s heart rate as it moves and assists in assessing the biophysical profile of the fetus.[3] Major genetic and diagnostic prenatal tests occur during the first and second trimesters of pregnancy, such as chorionic villus sampling and amniocentesis.[2]

Thank you for sharing your proposed changes. I made a few small adjustments to the text.

  • I think you should consider removing the sentence about the tests done in the 1st trimester. Is this already presented earlier in the article? If so, no need to repeat. If not, then consider adding it to the 1st trimester paragraph.
  • Are there any wikilinks that you can add? Links are made the first time the med term appears int the WP article. Most med terms and technical terms/tests have Wikipedia pages that you can link to to help readers understand.
  • I find that the sources you chose are weaker secondary sources. They may pass WP:MEDRS in this case as you are presenting background information about genetic counselling that seems to be quite commonly accepted in the field. If there are any review articles published in high quality journals (with references) this would be stronger. Systematic reviews are not available for every topic/intervention, so this is where community consensus on Wikipedia is helpful.

WThanks again for all your work to improve Wikipedia! JenOttawa (talk) 02:09, 9 November 2018 (UTC)
