Showkat has been working in the ICRISAT from December 2010. ICRISAT is the member of CGIAR Consortium, France.
ICRISAT was founded in 1972 by a consortium of organizations convened by the Ford and the Rockefeller Foundations. Its charter was signed by the FAO and the UNDP.
Since its inception, host country India has granted a special status to ICRISAT as a UN Organization operating in the Indian territory making it eligible for special immunities and tax privileges.
Before joining ICRISAT, Showkat has worked as the Asst. Media Advisor for US Dept. Of State, Posted at the US Consulate General Hyderabad, India.
In addition, he has been a TV journalist for over five years covering foreign affairs, business and technology, politics etc for various national and international media organisations.
