- Avoid arrogance. Almost all browsers and OS's support mp3—don't link to unusual or software specific file extensions, i.e. ogg, ram, wma, etc. which may require plugins that change user's system settings.
- For text information, link to html documents if possible—only to pdf if absolutly necessary. Out of respect for dial-up users, never link to flash displays.
- Give credit. Be sure to link to hosting organization's home page.
