Ekangolinene combined school - Etayi circuit

Late Simon haikela is the founder of Odimbwa combined School. He was born in Angola at Oihole and then he migrated to Oshalembe where he start up his school at home with few learners at Gabriel Shekudja's house 1n 1960 Tatekulu Simon Haikela womOshalembe e tu fiya po .After his death the School was renamed Ekangolinene combined school situated in a village called Odimbwa in Etayi constituency Omusati region. It was opened by the former president of Namibia, Dr Sam Shafiissuna Nujoma in the year 1966. The first principal from 1966 to 1982 was Mr. simon Mwatilifange, followed by Mrs sofia Handobe from 1982-2008 and hand over to Mr. Peter Nekuta Pombili who is still the head of the school until now.

Ekangolinene combine school is also included in Omusati schools having grade 1 to 10 with 1020 learners and 23 teachers. You can wirte a letter to them at this address: P O Box 1332, Oshakati Namibia.

Flood prone area to benefit The minister of work and transport honourable Erkki Nghimtina said that the district road 3653 infrastructure is in process between Oshikuku and Ekangolinene. The road is mean to improve the living condition for those that live near the area in order for them to enjoy the fruit of independence. Many parent find it difficult when it is raining because they have to escort kids to and from school.


Etayi community will soon have proper road. the etayi consituence is in the far north in omusati region, it has been without a proper road and people have been suffering because of the flood that use to be in their area, many learner use to drop out of school during water time especialy kids.Nghimtina said the state was funding the project at a cost of over 38 million Namibian dollars. The tender is awarded to Nexus Civils Pty Limited as the main contractor, and Element Consulting Engineers as the consultants.The Oshikuku-Ekangolinene road construction project have employed jobless people living in the community more than 300 people and is scheduled to be completed February 2013 next year.

If i could go back to my teanager age, i would like to go back to my school Ekangolinene because i am proud of it. it makes me who i am today. To my former grade 1 teacher i would like to say thanks because she taught me how to handle my books with a good care, she also taught me how to read and write. Now it has electrcity, water, proper library and science lab.
