Welcome to WikiProject Traditional Chinese Medicine. This collaboration is dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage and organization of Traditional Chinese Medicine topics. This page and its subpages contain suggestions and various resources; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians interested in the topic. If you would like to help, please join the project, inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list below.

Goals

edit
  • Advocate for the original philosophy and theory behind traditional chinese medicine on wikipedia
  • Maintain NPOV in articles within scope
    • Minimize presentation of westernized views of traditional chinese medical philosophy (as has been perpetuated by the syncretism of New Agism and also by well-intentioned World Health Organizaiton standardization) in place of well-cited interpretation.
  • Expand the wisdom base of the topic to represent the completeness of the system, albeit significant incomensurability with western medicine.
  • Maintain quality of articles and topics within scope
    • Ensure language used in introductory articles permits sufficient access to topic to the uninitiated
    • Ensure all jargon is explained in a sufficiently easy to find (linked?) fashion.
    • Ensure all TCM styles and traditions represented on wikipedia are notable and not disguised advertisements for fringe practices or quackery.

Scope

edit
  • Chinese herbology
  • Chinese Astrology
  • Chinese Energy practices (i.e. qi gong, tai chi, ba gua, feng shui, etc.)
  • Chinese internal martial arts
  • Theory/Pertinent Chinese philosophy (such as yin-yang, five elements, ba gua, taosim)
  • TCM techniques (accupuncture, moxibustion, tui na)
  • TCM literature
  • Prominent historical figures, per WP:NB
  • Significant TCM institutions and foundations with verifiable notability, per WP:NB
