Seth Unger

Seth Foster Unger (born April 20, 1979, Ashtabula, Ohio) is the Press Secretary for Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel.


Personal

He is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, and moved to Los Angeles, California in 2001 after graduating from John Carroll University with a bachelors degree in Political Science and Communications. Seth spent 9 years in California, working in politics and public relations, before returning to Ohio in 2011. Seth is married to wife Bridget, and has four boys: Seth Jr., Coleman, Trent and Gavin.

Seth worked on political campaigns during the 1996, 1998, and 2000 Election Cycles in Ohio for State Representative, Congressional and Statewide Candidates respectively before moving to Los Angeles in 2001 to work for the California Republican Party as Deputy Press Secretary. Following the 2002 Election Cycle he moved to Sacramento, California, to work for the California Chamber of Commerce as Deputy Communications Director and Capitol Correspondent. Seth went to work for Senator Chuck Poochigian in 2004 as his Communications Director, and served as Press Secretary and Director of Operations on his 2006 campaign for California Attorney General. In 2007, Seth was appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to serve as Press Secretary for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, where he was the chief spokesperson for California's prison and parole system. In 2009, he was appointed Communications Director for the California Assembly Republican Caucus where he served three Republican Leaders. In 2011, Seth returned to his home state of Ohio, after being appointed Press Secretary for Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel.
